Arushee Kamra

Choreographer, Dancer, Performer

Hello there! I'm a junior at North Carolina State University, pursuing a dynamic journey in Biomedical Engineering through the prestigious joint department at UNC Chapel Hill. While my academic pursuits are fueled by a passion for science and innovation, my heart beats to a different rhythm on the stage as a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer.

Dance has been my lifelong companion, starting from the tender age of six. My dance odyssey has been shaped by the profound teachings of Guru Asha Bala, rooted in the exquisite Thanjavur style tradition. To further refine my artistry, I embarked on a transformative journey in 2020 and 2021 under the tutelage of the renowned Shri Vaibhav Arekar.

My love for Bharatanatyam has taken me on a vibrant performance journey across the North Carolina landscape. In 2019, I had the privilege of co-choreographing "Gangajatadhar," a captivating piece that brought the enchanting story of Ganga Avataran to life at Cary Diwali. I’ve performed in major community and cultural events, including India Fest and International Festival. I’ve even had the immense privilege of sharing the stage with luminaries like Ila Arun, Kavita Krishnamurty, and Alisha Chinai at Cary Diwali's headliner event.

My dance endeavors extend beyond the stage; I've danced for ISCKON's Krishna Janmashtami celebrations and have become a familiar face at the SV Temple and HSNC, where I've had the honor of sharing the timeless beauty of Bharatanatyam with appreciative audiences. In a recent highlight of my artistic journey, I had the privilege of performing a piece at the Caldwell Fellows Showcase at North Carolina State University.
