ABOUT ME

My Story
Since the earliest days of my childhood, dance has been the heartbeat of my existence. It was during those formative years that I embarked on my formal education in Bharatanatyam, a journey that would ultimately lead me to represent India at the prestigious Russian Language and Cultural Olympiad in Moscow. This extraordinary opportunity not only afforded me accolades for my performance but also allowed me the privilege of being an ambassador for India's rich cultural tapestry on the global stage.
In recent years, my artistic evolution has been further enriched in the beautiful classical dance form of Kathak through the invaluable mentorship of Prashant Shahji, an eminent figure in the realm of dance. As a proud member of the distinguished Prashant Shah & Dancers professional dance group, I have had the honor of refining my dance craft amidst a highly focused group of like-minded and dedicated artists. Prior to that, my exploration of dance led me to the captivating world of Kathak, under the guidance of the accomplished Ms. Vallerie Apte, closely supervised by the venerable Guru Pt. Maneesha Satheji. This profound journey of almost 12 years of training, culminated in the attainment of the revered Visharad status, a testament to the depth of dedication I bring to my art.
Beyond the personal realm, I have embraced an active role as a performer, choreographer, and organizer, contributing significantly to numerous cultural community events across the United States. Recently, I had the honor of being part of two remarkable events in my dance journey: the New York Kathak Festival, NYKF 2023, and a performance at Carnegie Hall in July 2022. These opportunities allowed me to contribute to the All-India Dance Festival, which holds a special place in my heart as a cherished milestone in my journey.
From 2017 to 2019, I had the privilege of serving as a Board of Director for ICMDS, Indian Classical Music and Dance Society, a role in which I was instrumental in advancing the cause of Indian classical artists and cultural events in the vibrant Triangle area of North Carolina.
In 2019, I ventured on an inspiring journey, driven by a passionate vision to elevate the awareness and appreciation of Indian cultural arts, which led to the inception of KRPA, Krishnapriya Rasrang Performing Arts, where I not only embraced my role as an artist but also embraced the spirit of an entrepreneur. This visionary platform unites artists who share a common commitment to not only elevate the art form but also to employ it as a catalyst for positive societal transformation. At KRPA, we believe in preserving the essence of our cherished dance techniques while infusing them with a unique perspective that reflects the dynamic world around us.
Through the harmonious interplay of tradition and innovation, I stand committed to furthering the legacy of Indian classical dance, crafting a narrative that not only resonates with the present but also leaves an indelible mark on the future.
